Understanding Perspective
This course of 5 classes is designed for students and adults with some previous experience with drawing. At the end of the course you will understand that following the rules of perspective is not rocket science. We will learn the major cornerstones of perspective and will apply those skills to our drawing process.
Class 1: Introduction. The two major things to convey as an artist: to show that the objects around us are dimensional and they appear closer or further away in a space. The understanding of horizon, and eye-level. Exercising and observing.
Class 2: High-water mark as an eye-level. Drawing from below or above. The appearance of parallel lines. Up or down lines. Vanishing points. Drawing visualized rules.
Class 3: Exploring the drawing of a box. 1 and 2 point perspective. Rotating the box, changing the eye level. Homework for finding horizon and vanishing points.
Class 4: Drawing an object with parallel lines in it. Practicing with household objects.

Metamorphosis of Forms - Introduction to Industrial Design
If drawing is about seeing, then learning to draw is about HOW to see. In this course for advanced students, we are going to learn how to break down complex forms into simple shapes, reconstruct an object on the paper, and connect objects to develop an illusion of that complex form again.
We will practice blending and transforming arbitrary forms into one another: blending cubes, cylinders, spheres, cones, and pyramids. Then, we will draw household items that fall under that description: bottle, glass, hair dryer, cloth iron, etc. We are going to complete the course with your own interpretation and your understanding of metamorphosis by designing a new look for a traditional object.
Supplies: paper pad, pencils, erasers.
Duration: 1 hour, 15 minutes per class. This is an ongoing course.
$340 per person for 10 classes
