Palette Art Studio was founded in Cheshire, Connecticut in 1997, by artist and teacher Natasha Piskunova. Trained in classical and contemporary Russian schools of painting and drawing, Mrs. Piskunova draws on her experience as a teacher of artistically gifted children in St. Petersburg. She founded Palette Art Studio with the hopes of introducing her teaching methodology to students in the United States.
Often, our students stay with us for years and they take both drawing and painting classes weekly. Throughout the years they develop incredible skills and many draw at a professional level. Several of our students end up going into the art field, where their skills are priceless in the creative industries. For others, the personal creativity, discipline to craft, and skills that they learn in art aid them in any direction they pursue. Admissions committees often recognize this and their art portfolio is very useful during their college application process.
We are very proud of our students and the works they produce can be viewed at several exhibitions in the Greater New Haven area annually.
For those that are simply interested in trying a new experience, we developed short foundation sessions of 10 classes each. We are still committed to teaching these students in the classical manner. In each 10 class session, students learn the structural foundation to develop good skills for a future education in art. For adults who would like to continue their studies, we have set up themed 10 class sessions in different areas, such as landscape painting, portraiture, or mixed media, where they can master various skills.
We also provide short workshop sessions, as well as fun art parties for those students who would just like to try something different and unique. The goal of these sessions is to be creative and have a good time.
